If I may offer a small piece of wedding planning advice, get yourself a nice, big three ring binder — at least 3″ wide. Also get some tab dividers and zip pockets to go with it. I know it’s sounds terribly antiquated, but I found it to be a really helpful tool in keeping track of all quotes, service proposals, receipts, contracts (you are getting a signed contract or printed confirmation from all of your service providers, aren’t you?) and other printed ‘paper trail’ items. Even if you have arranged for something online, you should print a copy of your receipt or confirmation to keep in the binder.
Keep your to do lists, checklists and budget at the front of the binder and use the tab dividers to separate sections for rehearsal, ceremony, reception, invitations, cake, flowers, favors and gifts, gown/tux/accessories, bridal party, and so forth. Use the zip pockets to store any receipts or info cards that are too small to 3-hole punch.
If you’re really out of things to do, you can get a clear cover binder and decorate it with your wedding theme, invitations, and photos. Hope that helps!
And, as someone who got married in the dark ages when the Internet was purely academic, I don’t want to hear complaining from any of you who are planning a wedding with the World Wide Web at your disposal. You have it easy, trust me! There’s even a wedding planning guide here on my baby shower site — here are just a few websites to prove my point.
Enjoy — and congratulations!
