How To Use Houseparty For Baby Shower Games
Now that you know how to download houseparty and add friends to the app, let’s talk about how to use the app for baby shower games.
As you know, the app comes preloaded with a variety of games, many of which are baby shower friendly!
A fun digital twist on a classic game, Heads Up is sure to be fun for everyone involved. Here’s how to play:
One player takes a card. Everyone but the player with the card on their head will know what it says. The other players will scream out clues, without giving the answer away, until they get it right or decide to pass.
Right now, there are three free decks for players to choose from in houseparty. The selection changes weekly. You should shuffle through until you find one most suitable for your baby shower. For example, there’s an animal deck available right now, though it’s not baby shower themed, it could still fit!
Lastly, you can also purchase the baby shower themed deck for under $1 in houseparty, which is a total steal!
Play Quick Draw on Houseparty
Pictionary is another classic game that most everyone already knows how to play, but we’ll list the directions for those who haven’t experienced its magic!
On the app, one player will see the item they have to draw while the others will only see what that player is drawing.
Once the players guess right, you will see an item to draw on the screen but the other people on Houseparty will just see your drawing, once they guess right just click the check and move on to the next one.
There are a variety of subjects available such as fantasy, games, sci-fi, animals, food, places, or characters. While there’s no baby shower category, this game is so straight-laced that it’s still suitable for a shower.
Plus, you could put a rule in place the players have to incorporate baby-related things into their drawings- instead of following what houseparty asks you to draw. So see, all you need is a bit of imagination from the guests and VOILA!
The Houseparty app has tons of different trivia topics to choose from, and although there are no baby topics in the app, you can pick a deck to go with your theme.
For example, if you choose a cute space theme there’s an outer space trivia deck. Or if you’ve gone for a Disney theme, there’s a “Magic Kingdom” deck too!
Chips and Guac
Fun fact: Chips and Guac is Houseparty’s most played game at the moment. If you’re not familiar, here’s everything you need to get started.
First you should know that Chips and Guac is a word association game using cards. The round starts with a Guac card everyone sees containing a word or expression. Everyone except the “judge” gets chip cards and chooses the card they think best matches the Guac card. The judge then decides which chip and guac pairing is their favorite. That player then wins
Although this game is tons of fun, there’s nothing particularly baby-related about it. But not every game at a baby shower HAS to be baby related and this still might be a good game to play to get warmed up!
Word Racer is a lesser-known houseparty game that’s just as fun as the others on this list! The game is played in rounds. Each round has eight letters all players can see. The point of the game is to create words out of the eight letters.
Longer words, naturally get more points. The player with the most points wins! Like Chips and Guac, this isn’t a baby centered game, but it can still be a fun time.
How to Play Magic 8 Ball on Houseparty
Everyone’s shaken a Magic 8 Ball in their day, but have you ever played the virtual version? The experience is nearly identical!
Users play by asking the ball “yes” or “no” questions. Then, they click the ball on the screen to reveal the answers, which range from positive (“It is certain”) to negative (Don’t count on it) to neutral (Ask again later).
The player can think of any question they want to ask the magic 8 ball. It could be anything serious or just funny questions.
Sample Questions you may ask:
- Is it going to be a girl/boy?
- Will the baby look like Mom/Dad
- Will the baby cry a lot?
It might be fun to incorporate this a bit in the shower but remember, this is more of a one player type game so it might not work for a group.
Play Uno with Friends
Uno is a beloved card game which can also be played by up to 8 people on houseparty.
The app shuffles the card and the players are prompted to “draw a card” by tapping on one before the turn moves to the next player. The player should play a card if it matches the color, number, word, or symbol on the card. If you don’t have any of it click “draw a card.”
The players keep taking turns until one player has just one card left in their hand. If you can play your last card before anyone else goes out, you’ll be the winner of the round!
Uno is a classic game but it might be difficult to make it baby related. Of course, you never really need an excuse to play a fun game, so give it a shot! Add this to your list of games and you and your guests will surely have a blast!
